Gina and I went out today and tested the new mics in some of the worst conditions we encounter--a car show with a DJ. Not that we hate DJs or sound systems, it just wreaks havoc on our sound. That will now be a thing of the past. We love the Mics that Micah Nehring sent us and came away impressed and happy. We now have what we need to go to the next level...what ever that means.

We also met with a few nice people and are planning to do some "Guys (and Gals) like us" videos that will be posted in addition to Our normal ARM offerings. We are planning to sell these to a local TV station as well as post them on our own channel on YouTube. But more on that later.

Hope your weekend is going as well as ours is!

After two weeks of videos bloodying our nose, the one this week left us room to breath. It is actually finished.

We went to Ray's Rod and Custom today and sealed up a deal to do the front sheet metal alignment on a '69 Camaro. We'd been asked about that and now it is coming to pass. See we don't forget stuff. Now, what was I talking about....

Oh yeah. We're also going to start work on the Keilser Engineering video next week. We'll be reaching back to show the install of the engine, trans and set up on the '67 Mustang Fastback. This video is some of the first stuff we shot but the information is good so we're going to air it. ignore the lack of ARM T-shirts.

OK, so, we worked at ASTV this last Friday filming a golf tourny. That was cool. We worked for them on Saturday as well filming a dance show. That was interesting and long (we ran from 8:00AM until 10:30PM).

Thus we were not near a computer for three solid days (Sunday was Easter and we don't work on Easter). And it seems that between Thursday night when some minor, and I do mean minor, storms came through we had a power glitch that reset our router. Sigh. SO most of our morning was spent in slash and burn pursuit of the problem. We did find it (obviously since you are reading this) and now I can post this blog about how I couldn't post anything over the weekend. BUT I will say this happy belated Easter, and this week we'll be putting up part two of the radiator/cooling episode.

So, no automotive wit or charm regarding the '67 Mustang and its nearing start up (you read it right) on this beautiful Monday.

See part one HERE.

A box arrived at the Autorestomod compound yesterday--from B&H Camera in New York. For those not in the know, for camera and film geeks B&H is like a candy store, salvage yard and steak house all rolled into one; a real "yeah we got that" kinda place. But said box had me perplexed, and perplexity added to anxiety over more video faux pas left me confused. Had they screwed up? Why was there a box here from B&H? Vinnie even asked if it was ticking. It wasn't. Upon opening the box we found two Sennheiser lapel mic sets and a Pelican case to hold them in. Mistake. Had to be. For a split second I mused over the idea of the "mis-sent" box "disappearing" never to be seen again. But I quickly banished the idea. I'd send it back.

Accept there was a problem, a GOOD problem. In the bottom  of the box was a gift receipt with Micah Nehring's name scrawled in official looking Times New Roman. Holy cat scratch fever. Just the week before we'd been chatting about the sound problems, and now...

Honestly, and I don't mind telling you this, I welled up. Tears  (man tears of course) but honest tears. As small as our monthly  income is off the videos, we were looking at November for mics. Now...

Thanks my brother. For everything.

These last two weeks have been enough to make me want to pull out my hair. We've had a spate of bad luck with the videos and we're hoping that with the Muscle Car Cooling episode that the sun will start to shine again soon. And in a way it has.

That way is you, the viewer. When we see all you guys and gals joining up for what we are doing, we feel better and, quite frankly feel like what we're doing is being enjoyed. That makes all the difference in the world.

Without doing something else. Gina and I re shot some footage today due to my own stupidity. Sigh, then I decided to install the drivers door stainless on the 1967 Mustang. Test fitting went OK,it fit...about as well as can be expected. But as I went to get the pop rivets I realized I didn't have the right size. So, now I get to do something else before I can do something.

If I think about this too much I'll get really grumpy.

Well I'm done for the day. the last video was...awful to produce. The need for better sound hit me square between the eyes on Wednesday afternoon. So much of what we shot in Charlotte ended up on the cutting room floor. Sigh. We'll get better. We learned, and we will adapt.

Thanks for watching. I'm going to go to bed now...maybe until Saturday.

Beh, who am I kidding. I'll be out there in the shop tomorrow cleaning. LOL

Well Charlotte was a hoot. We all had fun--ok Gina, Vinnie and I had fun and Carla enjoyed Garden Ridge Pottery. For some odd reason Gina and Vince actually came away empty handed. I however found a stoplight...always wanted one of those. And to top all that, we did get some neat info and we'll be passing that on to you this week.

The next episode will deal with what we learned about swap-meeting. Sure a lot of it was information that our addled brains had previously just closed off in a closet, but we'll give you those tips and more and who knows, they might just pay off next time there is a swap meet in your area.

The other thing that we found was that we need lapel mics for this sort of thing. Sigh, is this never ending need for more and better equipment going to end? Well, I guess not since I already admitted that it is never ending. Sigh...

We've talked about  Iggy Noray Moose and his affect on cars we all buy. But what if, just what if, the cars themselves "like" Iggy? I wonder sometimes. For instance, today I'm working on (lets not get in to semantics about how I can be working on a car and writing this blog) a speaker/defroster grille for a '65 hardtop Mustang. It needed paint so I scuffed it and squirted the correct NPD Medium Blue over Iggys dime store Periwinkle; the new paint fisheyed. So we bead blasted it and cleaned it with Metal Ready and sprayed it with Rust-oleum primer...and the primer fisheyed.

OK if this car didn't like Iggy wouldn't it just succumb to our aid and think, "ahhh we're getting fixed up! AWESOME!"

However, if the car liked the Iggy approach (the approach that saw the fisheyes and thought, "Meh." shrugged and went on) it would say "CRAP! some yahoo is trying to put me back to work Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" And resist all attempts to make it better.

OK I "know" cars are not thinking things but still, sometimes I wonder.

Sigh I guess the primer is dry enough to bead blast off so I can start again.

We plan to head to Charlotte and the Charlotte Autofair this Saturday and do some video of the Southeast's largest automotive swap meet and show. For Carla, it took a bribe of Garden Ridge Pottery. For Gina and Vince...it just took a phone call.

My only concern? Think toy store, three small children and one adult. I'll give you three seconds to figure out who the adult is in this scenario.

So my real concern is that we won't get any real work done and worse, we'll some how come home with another car to add to the burgeoning Q of crap we already have.

At this stage the '67 Mustang Fastback has every thing it needs, the '68 Mustang hardtop needs things that I probably don't know about and the '64 Falcon hardtop...sigh.

Maybe I'll just stay home.

Nah, who am I kidding, I'm goin' to Charlotte!
