Episode 99 Retrosound USA Classic Car Radio Review
This week we review the new Model 2 Retrosound USA radio. This radio is fully Bluetooth enabled and ready for installation in any classic car. With its customizable knob positions and variable face plate you can place the radio in nearly any car. built between 1957 and the late 70’s and early 80s. We discuss jets and where to get them as well as tools for safe jet removal and installation. |

Diagnosing engine, checking Alternator & Regulator function
This week we start to diagnose and fix some of the issues that our 1965 Mustang hardtop has like missing vacuum tree caps, PCVs connected to the intake and not the carb. Among the things we cover are checking alternator and voltage regulator function to make sure you are getting good ignition. We also explain carburetor spacers, show a quick way to tell if an engine has a miss. We also install throttle linkage from National Parts Depot.

Tuning Classic Car with Vacuum Gauge, Plug reading
This week we use a vacuum gauge to fine tune our 1965 Mustang hardtop, how to read your plugs to know if the carburetor you are running is too lean or too rich. We also show what the exhaust should sound like at the tail pipes and how to use the spark plug wire removal test to find dead cylinders. We also give tips on how to test your car so that your changes will compare well with past test.

Carburetor Chokes and set up and one good reason you should have a PCV
This week we explain why chokes are important enough that you should consider having one on your street car. We also set up a hot air choke, talk about the pros and cons of manual chokes, and tell when an electric choke might be the best bet. We talk about the Cleveland stainless choke tubes and show off a choke cable; all available from National Parts Depot for the Mustang. We also tell you why you might want to install a PCV (Positive Crankcase Vent) to keep things clean.

Classic Car Shocks, Coil Springs with Eaton Detroit Spring
This week we meet with Mike Eaton from Eaton Detroit Spring and discuss his business. We also dispel some myths about coil springs, give some dos and don’ts for your coil spring front end. Things like what coils can and can’t be cut and what it means when you say 620 coil spring. We also discuss the differences between gas and hydraulic reason you want hydraulic shock on your vintage car rather than a gas shock.
