Smoke From Your Cars Exhaust Pipe, what does it Mean?

Oil Smoke
  • Doesn’t dissipate. Smells “acrid”. Don’t know what acrid smells like? Light some motor oil on fire.
  • Smoke from tailpipe that is slightly blueish white in color and hangs is oil smoke.
  • Smoke that comes out under acceleration is usually valve seals or Plenum.
  • Constant smoke indicates rings.

Transmission Smoke
  • Check for vacuum line.
  • Smoke on deceleration.

Carburetor Smoke
  • Black eye burning smoke means too rich. Bad for plugs, but not overly dangerous
  • White smoke is extremely bad for your car. The white smoke is actually vaporized gasoline and it can wash down cylinder walls, thins oil.
  • If the oil smells like gas, change it.

Steam from the Exhaust Pipe.
  • It will dissipate pretty quickly on a warm or hot day.
  • Slightly sweet smell.
  • Up front it could be a water pump or hose.
  • From tail pipe constantly it is probably a head gasket.
  • Check your oil. If it looks like chocolate milk. Shut off engine and walk away sad.

C3 Corvette Static Test Rear Wheel Bearings And Driving Test

We go to Florida and check out a mysterious wobble on a C3 1972 Chevrolet Corvette. With new axles on board, we know that the rear end is OK. Be we think that the rear wheel bearings are about played out. With no tools to do the repair we’ll send it to Classic Creations of Central Florida (863) 665-2322 so that Merv, an old had at Corvettes can make it handle like new.
