This week we show that bead blasting can be an effective way to remove old paint from the heater case on your classic or muscle car. We also use commonly available paints to detail out our case. We also show how to refinish the case and give tips on installation of the seals. We also show you that things can go terribly wrong—if the case has the wrong parts in it. Though we are using a 1965-70 Mustang case, all of the tips can apply to any classic car heater box.

Drum to disc conversion and testing

This week we delve in to the sorry state of drum brakes and the one sure way to fix them: Disc Brakes. We’ll be testing the stopping power of Stainless Steel Brakes discs using a G-tech G meter . We’ll also be looking over the Stainless Steel Brake Corp four piston brake system and why you should abandon the single bowl master cylinder in favor of a dual bowl unit.

This week we install the Stainless Steel Brakes discs. We also talk about the myth that all Ford spindles are the same and show you how and why they are different. We also show some tools for easier front end repair like a ball joint separator and wheel bearing greaser. And we show how to support your upper control arms to make pulling a spindle easier.

Single to dual bowl conversion for master cylinder

This week we install the Stainless Steel Brakes dual bowl master cylinder and lose the single bowl “fruit jar” master that has been in the engine bay for a long time. This conversion will give us an added safety margin if the braking system develops a problem. We also go over both traditional brake bleeding procedures as well as using a Mytivac to get faster bleeding of the brakes. We cover proper break in procedures for the pads and rotors.
